Born in Montréal in 1969, André Archambault has studied visual Arts at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, fine arts at l'Université de Montréal, and scenography as well as National Theatre School of Canada. He has acquired experience and developed his talent as museology model maker in Montreal as well as being a muralist in Westmount during approximately ten years. Now established in the Eastern Townships, he devotes himself to abstract painting. The artist is intuitive and, through interior research, images emerge in him and enable his creativity to burst out. The terrestrial phenomenon becomes a major force that is impregnated in his work. Of an inspired gesture, he spontaneously carves the modeling paste on its mount. The dried matter becomes a field of exploration where colors and reliefs are amalgamated. The entity of the horizontal and vertical lines then appears. Sometimes they symbolize the passage between two worlds: the organic and geometrical, and sometimes they are used as beacons. Although his painting is abstract, space is essential in the canvas and the pictorial composition brings us to his proper identity. The former lives cross through the research and the composition of a painting; these are deep timeless universes that allow a passage of life. Through the terrestrial layers, the artist discovers his development and unloads the force of his intrinsic being. He is collected, searches deeper and resurfaces in order for the essence of his work to explode with rage and ardor. The artwork becomes the artist’s witness and a source of life!
