Andre Archambault

Born in Montréal in 1969, André Archambault has studied visual Arts at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, fine arts at l'Université de Montréal, and scenography as well as National Theatre School of Canada. He has acquired experience and developed his talent as museology model maker in Montreal as well as being a muralist in Westmount during approximately ten years. Now established in the Eastern Townships, he devotes himself to abstract painting.

The artist is intuitive and through interior research, visions emerge in him. Of an inspired gesture, he spontaneously transposes them while sculpting them in the modeling paste on a canvas. The dried matter is then covered with acrylic paint by superimposed layers using a spatula. The medium so hangs on to reliefs and draws randomly unexpected microcosms. But it is the dominance of the light, or dark, which reveals the sense of the artwork and is reflected in the current progress of the painter. Although these paintings are timeless and indefinite, he is aware that they are tools of evolution and that they call upon us to travel our inner selves.
